GB10 Sports Present Cheque to Wyborne Primary School

GB10 Sports raised £540 for Wyborne Primary School through their fireworks event, supporting new playground equipment and strengthening local community ties.

GB10 Sports were delighted to present Wyborne Primary School with a cheque for £540 with funds raised from their recent community fireworks event.

The fireworks event, which was held on October 27th, took place at GB10 Sports’ brand-new community-focused sports facility based in New Eltham, a stone’s throw from the primary school, and was the first of many events which is set to be hosted by GB10 for the wider community.

A percentage of all sales from the event raised funds for Wyborne’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA), with the money set to go towards purchasing new playground equipment for pupils.

Speaking after visiting the school to present the cheque, GB10 Sports co-owner, Brett Smith, said:

“The fireworks event was a brilliant evening – the weather was on our side which helped towards a big surge in ticket sales leading up to the event!

“We had more than 400 people there, which was fantastic, and doing it in partnership with Wyborne, as well as Alderwood Primary School, allowed us to raise some much-needed funds for the schools, as well as spotlighting what we’re trying to do at GB10.

“Community is embedded in our DNA. Our roots in the community are significant and we want to continue to grow that over the many years to come.”

Cathleen Green of Wyborne’s PTA added: “The kids really, really enjoyed it. All the children and families that did attend had such a fantastic time and to get such a huge amount of money out if it as well is fantastic.

“It’s going to go towards new playground equipment for the children, which all of the children will be able to benefit from, and it’s something they’re really excited about.”

Meanwhile, Robyn Heath, Deputy Head at Wyborne, said: “As a school, we have a lot of ground, but we haven’t got a good playing field, and that’s something that new parents often ask us about. So it’s really good that we have got places that we can go, like GB10 Sports, where we can do events with our children and they’ve got that space somewhere that is outside of the school and very close with it being just down the road. It’s something all of our children can benefit from.”
